At the very beginning of the pandemic, we found ourselves chasing beauty across Croatia—starting in Zagreb, road-tripping into Budapest, and looping back along the Adriatic through Dubrovnik and Split. The crown jewel was Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that took our breath away with its cascading turquoise waterfalls. Walking the ancient castle streets where Game of Thrones was filmed felt surreal—but nothing topped jet skiing below the fortress walls, laughing hysterically as the world briefly felt wide open again.
